When exactly can my student move in, and do they need an appointment?

Students arriving through an approved pre-orientation or University program follow that program’s instructions instead of making a duplicate individual request.
What should we bring, and what should roommates coordinate before move-in?
Emory’s shipping-and-bringing guidance tells roommates to coordinate items that a room needs only one of—especially approved refrigerator/microfridge arrangements and other bulky shared items—and publishes both recommended and prohibited items. Families should also use the student’s actual room assignment for dimensions and building-specific amenities.
What happens at move-out, and what do we do with belongings?
Emory’s Spring 2027 move-out page lists May 7, 2027 at noon for residents not approved for commencement housing and May 11, 2027 at 2 p.m. for approved commencement-related residents. The housing agreement requires residents to vacate after their academic obligations, remove personal property, return the room in required condition, and return keys/access items. Emory does not provide residence-hall storage for leftover belongings.
