Which UMBC room types require a residential meal plan, and what happens if no plan is selected?
DIRECT ANSWER
Residential Life guidance reviewed October 19, 2026; confirm the applicable housing cycle, room category and signed license.
UMBC generally requires residence-hall and suite residents to select a residential meal plan. If a student does not choose a different plan during the housing application, the default is the Ultimate plan. Apartment residents have separate plan choices. Check the student’s assigned room type and actual plan selection before completing the food budget; this guidance does not establish a meal-plan price.
