Yes, but cancellation fees apply once a student has a guaranteed or assigned space.
For the 2026–27 cycle, UCSC lists a $150 cancellation fee on or before July 1, $250 from July 2 through August 1, and $350 on or after August 2 for a reserved/guaranteed housing space. A waitlist application canceled before assignment has no cancellation fee.
