Start with the campus and your timeline
School and move-in eligibility
Use the official University at Buffalo source for the relevant campus and academic year before signing a lease or planning a student move into a family-owned home. A landlord’s approval does not establish university eligibility.
Parent and out-of-state planning
Match the lease or purchase timeline to the school calendar. For a remote move, verify the exact campus destination, inspection and touring arrangements, utilities, emergency access and maintenance responsibilities.
For a family purchase, verify occupancy, roommate rules, HOA restrictions, financing and the post-graduation plan for the actual home. Property-specific eligibility and availability are not established by this hub.

How do Buffalo’s published 2026–27 housing instructions link apartment eligibility to graduation cohort?
University at Buffalo’s published 2026–27 instructions distinguish housing eligibility by high-school graduation cohort. June 2025 graduates may use Creekside Village apartments and Greiner. June 2024-or-earlier graduates may apply for apartment options including Flint, Hadley, South Lake and Flickinger. June 2026 graduates are primarily eligible for residence halls. Greiner should not be treated as proof that every option in the cohort list is an apartment. Use the student’s actual graduation cohort and the relevant North or South Campus housing information, rather than substituting a general year-in-study rule. The information reviewed on October 17, 2026 described the fall 2026 application as closed. A $300 deposit does not guarantee a named apartment or placement. For another cycle, obtain that cycle’s instructions and confirm an actual offer before making housing commitments.
Source record: 2026-10-17. High-school graduation cohort controls; eligibility is not a universal year-in-study rule. North and South Campus housing must remain distinguished. Checked 2026-10-17. The fall 2026 application is described as closed; a $300 deposit does not guarantee a named apartment or placement.
