For housing near James Madison University, is a paid bus fare automatically part of a JMU student's local commuting budget?
DIRECT ANSWER
Fare-free statement only; no route or geographic coverage inference. Source as of: 2026-10-16 Use cited page body and explicit policy period. A page update date does not extend an expired rate or deadline. Confirm current requirements and the actual student, employee, household or property circumstances with the cited authority. No property inventory or named professional is assigned by this answer.
JMU's current parking page lists the local bus alternative as fare-free. That removes a fare assumption for that published option, but does not establish a stop at any particular apartment, service hours, or a door-to-door commute time.
