If my student's belongings are stolen or damaged, will Emory reimburse us?

Generally no. Emory’s agreement disclaims responsibility for resident personal-property loss or damage except where law or specific circumstances impose liability.
The 2026–27 housing agreement places responsibility for personal belongings on the resident and Emory separately recommends rental insurance. A theft, leak, or other loss should still be reported to the appropriate University office and insurer, but families should not assume the University will reimburse the value of the property.
