UA's Off-Campus Resources explains that a joint lease covers the unit and that remaining tenants may have to cover a departing roommate's share; with an individual lease, each tenant is responsible for their own rent portion. Compare the same occupancy, lease period and included services, then add mandatory fees, utilities and any coverage limits. A whole-unit quote divided by bedrooms is a budgeting comparison, not proof that each tenant has a separate lease or limited liability.
