For covered leases in the City of College Park, the posted housing code prohibits a renewal offer earlier than 180 days before the current lease ends and prohibits requiring a tenant to accept and sign the next lease until 15 days after that lease is sent. The section applies only to leases entered into, renewed or renegotiated after its effective date. It excludes fraternity and sorority houses, student cooperative housing, subleases, terms shorter than eight months, and premises with conflicting government income, age or rent restrictions. Only the tenant may waive the section’s provisions: the waiver must be submitted in writing and specify which provisions are waived. The landlord must acknowledge receipt in writing within 10 days. Confirm the city boundary, effective-date applicability and any exclusion before using these rules for an actual lease; a mailing address alone does not establish coverage.
