Tarleton State University
Tarleton's Community Standards policy says damage beyond normal wear and tear to a room or apartment and its furnishings is the student's responsibility. Students should report damage as it occurs. At move-in, complete the Room Condition Sheet and submit it to the hall service office; the policy says this record is used at move-out to identify damage not initially noted. For common areas, if responsibility for damage or loss cannot be assigned to individuals, charges may be prorated among members of the identified floor, hall or apartment of responsibility. The policy says loss and damage charges are based on the current repair or replacement cost and billed to the student's University account. Its separate University Property provision says room/apartment repair costs and lost or damaged furnishings are charged to assigned residents and divided equally among the students involved, unless there is a written agreement that one student had sole responsibility for the specific damage. For a disputed damage charge, read the charge email promptly. The published appeal process says the Residence Hall Director sends a Mercury email stating the amount and reason, with the appeal-form link available only through that email. The student has 14 calendar days to submit the Maxient appeal with documentation. Charges for housing administrative processes, such as a buyout or application fee, are not appealable under this process and will be denied. The stated review decision is final; an appeal does not guarantee that a charge will be removed.
