For non-urgent HVAC problems in most residence halls and campus apartments, submit a Housing Facilities Maintenance Request online and log in with your CalNet ID. If you need to follow up, reply to the automated email you got after submitting the request or email the Housing Facilities team with your request or work order number.
- Use the Housing Maintenance portal to file the request.
- For follow-up, use the automated email reply or the Housing Facilities follow-up email.
- For issues in public spaces such as lounges, kitchens, bathrooms, stairwells, or lobbies, tell your Resident Director, Resident Assistant, or unit front desk.
When it’s an emergency
If the HVAC problem is an emergency, contact the front desk staff immediately. UC Berkeley lists emergencies as including no heat, and the campus Facilities Services page also provides a 24/7 maintenance emergency contact for campus facilities issues.
- Treat no heat as an emergency.
- Contact the front desk first for emergency repairs in housing.
- Facilities Services says its Customer Service Center operates 24/7 for campus maintenance emergencies.
If you live in an affiliated property
Blackwell, Enclave, and Panoramic Berkeley use separate maintenance instructions, so residents there should not use the standard campus housing process unless their building’s instructions say to. Blackwell uses its own portal, Enclave uses the SG Real Estate resident portal, and Panoramic Berkeley uses email to its manager.
- Blackwell, Enclave, and Panoramic Berkeley follow separate instructions.
- Check your building’s specific process before filing the request.
- The standard Housing Facilities portal is for most UC Berkeley campus housing, not those affiliated properties.
