Question

Accepted Answer

SDSU points students to transit-friendly off-campus apartments and nearby housing communities around campus, including College West, College East, Grantville, Mission Valley West and Morena. The university also warns that listings are not endorsed, so you should verify the unit before signing anything.

What kinds of off-campus housing are listed near SDSU?

SDSU’s off-campus housing resource lists apartment communities near the Green Line and bus stops, which makes them transit-friendly for students living off campus. The listed options include apartment communities in several neighborhoods, not one single housing type or area.

College West listings include Cerca, Prisma, Zuma, M@College, College Campanile and Topaz.

College East listings include Iconic Apartments on Alvarado and Palmilla.

Other listed areas include Grantville, La Mesa, Mission Valley West and Morena.

SDSU says the university does not endorse these facilities and does not guarantee their safety or accuracy.

Practical next step before you choose

Use SDSU’s off-campus housing page and the Green Line Guide to compare neighborhoods by commute and transit access, then inspect any unit in person before applying. SDSU specifically says not to rent sight unseen and to check the neighborhood at different times of day.

Map the commute with Google Maps transit or the Transit app.

Visit with someone you trust and look for red flags.

Confirm the exact unit details, since room type and availability can vary.

Look at the SDSU off-campus housing resource first.

Decide whether you want a campus-adjacent apartment or a farther transit-connected neighborhood.

Visit the unit in person and inspect it carefully before signing.
