For heating and air conditioning issues in SDSU housing, submit a service request through the Housing Portal. SDSU says service requests are free to submit, and repairs are typically completed within two business days, though parts delays can make them take longer.
- Include your preferred weekday and a 9–11 a.m. or 1–3 p.m. time window.
- Add a clear description of the HVAC issue so maintenance can respond faster.
- A copy of the request is shared with roommates, if applicable.
If it’s urgent
If the HVAC problem comes with flooding, a major leak, no hot water, or another emergency condition, report it to your front desk immediately. SDSU says front desk staff will assess the situation and escalate it to the right staff member if needed.
- Use the front desk for high-priority emergencies, not the normal service-request path.
- Maintenance may enter when you are not present, so clear space for work and take your keys with you.
- If it is a facility emergency outside front-desk access, SDSU Facilities says the Work Control Center is answered 24/7.
How to keep track of the request
You can submit and check the status of the request in the Housing Portal. SDSU also says official housing updates about maintenance and other urgent issues go to the student’s @sdsu.edu email and, for immediate attention items, by phone or text using the number listed in the Housing Portal.
- Check your @sdsu.edu email regularly for housing updates.
- Keep your phone number current in the Housing Portal so urgent follow-up reaches you.
- If you need housing help directly, the Office of Housing Administration also lists its front desk and contact hours.
