YOUR NEXT DECISION
Turn the answer into your next step
- Submit the Residential Work Order Request for non-emergency HVAC issues.
- For emergencies, call the correct HRL campus office or the on-call RA.
- Have your residence hall and room details ready when you report the problem.
Non-emergency HVAC problem
Students should submit a Residential Work Order Request for non-emergency building or maintenance concerns, including heating and air conditioning issues. Duke says work orders are monitored and addressed Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Use the Residential Work Order Request form for the repair request.
- Include clear details about the HVAC problem so it can be routed correctly.
- Do not expect evening or weekend monitoring for this form.
Emergency HVAC problem
If the HVAC issue is an emergency, Duke says to contact your campus HRL office directly during business hours, and after hours to contact your Resident Assistant or Graduate Resident on call. Duke also says emergency or urgent requests should be followed by the campus office contact route for your area.
- During business hours, contact the HRL campus office for your residence area.
- After hours, contact the RA on call or graduate resident on call.
- If the problem is tied to a broader building emergency, use the emergency contact route right away.
