What happens if you’re waiting on a space
If a student is assigned housing, UCSC sends an automatic confirmation email. For Fall 2026, assignment details including roommate information are expected by the end of August, while most assignments are usually finished by mid-August and some can continue through the first week of classes.
- Keep room preferences updated in your application while assignments are still moving.
- The continuing student waitlist page is the official place to follow late assignments.
- Don’t assume silence means a final answer yet; UCSC says assignments can continue into the first week of classes.
Move-in, meals, and day-to-day setup
Fall quarter move-in is scheduled for September 17–22, and instruction begins September 24. If you live in a residence hall, a meal plan is part of housing, and UCSC Dining says students can use Atrium Campus Connect with the Atrium mobile app or a physical UCSC ID card at dining locations.
- Dining locations include College Nine/JRL, Crown/Merrill, and Rachel Carson/Oakes dining halls, with posted hours on the dining site.
- Meal plan changes for fall quarter were open through September 14, and the fall housing payment or payment-plan due date is September 17.

Who can use housing resources
UCSC’s housing pages explicitly provide entry points for freshmen, transfers, continuing students, visiting students, graduate students, and students with families. The dining and housing pages also state that their programs and services are open to all students consistent with nondiscrimination policies.
