For heating or other HVAC problems in UCSC residence housing, the university says to submit a CruzFix request for non-emergency maintenance. UCSC lists heating among the issues covered by CruzFix, and says requests for residence areas should use a Housing- request type so they route correctly.
- Submit one request per issue.
- Include a contact phone number.
- Submitting the request gives staff permission to enter the residence to make the repair.
Use the urgent repair line only for emergencies
If the HVAC issue is part of an urgent maintenance emergency that cannot wait until the next business day, UCSC says to call the emergency maintenance number instead of waiting on CruzFix. For life-threatening emergencies, call 911.
- Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.: 831-459-7043.
- After hours, weekends, or holidays: 831-459-4861.
- Examples UCSC gives for emergencies include active flooding, water intrusion, or entry doors that will not secure or open.

UCSC’s Physical Planning, Development & Operations page says repairs and maintenance help can also be reached by email or phone, and its CruzFix page is the official student maintenance-request route.
