How does my student request disability-related housing accommodations?
Students seeking disability-related housing arrangements should complete the Housing application and submit the required disability documentation/request through the Office of Disability Services. ODS evaluates the accommodation need and Housing implements approved recommendations as space and operational constraints allow.
If an accommodation is approved, does that guarantee a particular dorm or room?
Georgia Tech states that on-campus housing is not itself an accommodation and that ODS approval does not provide preferential access to housing. Housing implements an approved accommodation after the student secures a housing space, using available inventory that can meet the need.
Can my student have a service animal or emotional-support animal in campus housing?
Georgia Tech's animal guidance distinguishes ordinary pets from disability-related animals. Service animals may be permitted under applicable rules, while an emotional-support animal requires an approved housing accommodation through ODS and coordination with Housing before the animal lives in campus housing.
What if my student has a severe food allergy or special dietary need?
Tech Dining uses allergen labeling and Nutrislice information and directs students with food allergies or special dietary needs to Dining staff/registered dietitians. Students whose needs cannot reasonably be met through standard service can use the published meal-plan exemption/accommodation process.
